This happens only in India..Part II

It can only be in India that a terrorist can raise irrelevant issues and stall court proceedings against him.
Ajmal Qasab, the lone surviving terrorist is making a mockery of the justice system of the country. It has been more than 5 months after he was captured and all this time we couldn't start proceedings against him because he did not have a lawyer. Now when he has a lawyer, all he seems to be doing is delaying proceeding by claiming Qasab was a minor when he committed the crime to his cheeky demands for things like Flavored toothpaste, perfume and permission to walk outside his cell..
Next he might want to contest in the general elections here...

And talking of the elections, you have to be a Gandhi to do this in India. Talking to media persons yesterday, Rahul Gandhitalked about nepotism in Indian politics and he wanted it to end.
This coming from a politician whose parents, grandparents and great grandparents were all politicians and came into politics thanks to this 'Vanshvaad'. Now he talks of how bad it is for the country...Waah re India..

So true. I get infuriated when they say "Rahul is our future prime minister" (And I won't be surprised if one day he is elected to be) because I don't understand what qualifications he has apart from being the son of Sonia Gandhi and Rajiv Gandhi and great-grandson of Nehru. What exactly has he done to be eligible for it?

And when he talks of nepotism in politics, it's like the lolest thing I've ever heard!

well said... such a sort of thing can happen only in India... in a country where ppl like rabri devi can become CM, criminals put behind bars can pull strings thru their wives who contest in d elections (some of them might end up winning too) and so on, and so forth... d whole thing sucks.

abt kasab... well, this again can happen only in India, where a terrorist who brazenly killed people and police officers can make such preposterous and ridiculous demands... dunno what evidence they need, when there are tv grabs all over d place of qasab killing ppl ar CST... as for d lawyer, he wants his 2 minutes of fame... somehow, the whole trial seems chaotic... d real cause/purpose is lost in the drama.

True...I don't know why they are waiting and for what...Even if Kasab was a minor when he committed the act, he should be hung immidiately. End of case.

Most politicians have criminal cases against them, but they still fight the elections and thanks to thier muscle men, they terrorize people and win. The EC also does nothing because it is powerless..We need a change in constitution that adds a clause that any person who has been charged for a criminal act cannot fight, and neither can anyone without being a graduate(atleast).

It is a pity that we are hell-bent on providing a fair trial for a person like Kasab. As I understand this, we want to appear as a responsible and a mature nation.

The question that should be asked after all that he has done is

-----

Why?

Spot On Purnoor...

Who do we need to show that we are a mature and responsible nation..the US..in whose interrogation centre, they are still torturing people...or Pakistan where innocent Indians still languish in jails without any trial...

As I mentioned earlier, we have all evidence, give the sentence and thats the end of case. Period

Rightly said... another thing that happens only in India is the way the populace of this country goes about their routine whatever happens!

Irrespective of the physical calamities/ economic crisis/ communal and regional tensions, it hardly happens that an average Indian stops and does something about it. He just finds a way out of the problem and moves on. (One of the reasons I believe Indian economy is stronger than others.)

At other times this attitude just hurts the speed of development of our country. We stop and take notice but when it is time to lift our hands and do the work- we fail to deliver.

True..Many actually believed that the people of Mumbai after the 26/11 attacks would come out in huge numbers to vote...but they were disappointed with the low turnout. People have seen so many terror attacks and as you rightly said "have become immune...". They fret over it for a few days and its back to normal again after that..

And that is the reason that the government does not act...they know people will forget and move on..and its both these attitudes that are killing us..
