Dilli Darshan

I have to admit...I have seen Rajasthan, Gujrat, the entire south, parts of Madhya Pradesh, Leh but I have not seen most places in Delhi properly (ticket le kar...history padh kar... ;) )

So last weekend, when one of our family friends were in Delhi, we planned to go and see India Gate and Qutub Minar (actually to show thier kids..). The last time I had gone to any of the monuments was in class III or something when we were in Delhi...

So after around 13 years...I went out on a proper Dilli Darshan...

1st stop: India Gate

And I have to admit, sirf India Gate ke saamne khade ho kar hi ek patriotism ki feeling aa jaati hai...Uske sirf dekh ke hi ek PROUD feeling aati hai INDIAN hone ki...

2nd stop: Qutub Minar

To think that this monument is within 10 km from my place and I have never seen it. Quite a lot of history about this place too...the area includes the Iron Pillar, a mosque, a couple of tombs and an unbuilt Minar which was planned to be twice the Qutub Minar. Anyways we spent some time sitting in the lush green lawns, then had lunch at Andhra Bhavan and then headed back home.

However a fortnight hasn't passed since the Earth Hour wherein Delhi switched off lights at Qutub Minar too...well the next pic shows the reality- At 11 AM in the morning, most of the flood lamps at Qutub area were on. Ek ghante to band kar li..jab karni chahiye tab ON padhi hai lights...Waah re Dilli...

And yoyo after finally 8 months of using a keyboard without a spacebar and a partially working 'y' key, I now have a new keyboard. :D

PS: I have not written this post now (during office hours..), it is just scheduled to be published now :P

I visited India gate ( i mean not visited passed by) twice.

1. On the first occasion next day bomb was there.

2. On the second occasion a metro bridge collapsed near my home.

and about posting in office hours that was the only time i used to post my blog posts.

ps: about light and delhi .... its totally expected from pretentious people out there ( ducks to avoid incoming shoes, eggs tomatoes and aah its delhi so paneer pieces)

And bhai, its not just in Delhi...sab jagah aisi hi electricity waste hoti hai...

but yeh last part nahi samajh mein aaya "( ducks to avoid incoming shoes, eggs tomatoes and aah its delhi so paneer pieces)" ???

Haha! After Nimit's comment, I was half-hoping for a Delhi v/s Bombay debate! Anyway, I can totally appreciate the patriotic feeling when you stood under the magnificent India Gate. I could easily count the times I felt the same-
1) National Anthem before any movie
2) India winning a match
3) ISRO launch
... and a few more!

I think the patriotic feeling comes from the defence upbringing that we've had..it is a part of our life...

As for Nimit's comment, the wastage of electricity is an equally bad a problem. Politicians to sab ek jaise hi hai...Yaha minorities ko woo kar rahe hai...waha Marathi Manoos ko...kam to joote marne waale hi kar rahe hai naa ;)

And after "joote" its biryani on a congress "neta" nd that too in Goa!!

@ Box: its true kii u r delhite just because uncle ki posting delhi mein hai. Warna tere ko to raaste tak nahi yaad..!! Mujh se pooch raha tha! sharam kar!! :P

As far as the feeling of Patriotism is concerned, It is same in every Indian who stood once in life near India gate or who sings National anthem with closed eyes, understanding each word. Defence upbringing..!! I don't think much will do..!

Lol..yeh Biryani waala incident nahi suna maine kahin...

Arre yaar...Dilli is so damn big. If you go through a route once, you remember it...and CP jaane ke liye I use a different route. And hence I didn't know any landmarks. But this time going to Hyderabad bhavan for lunch, I could go from the route we had taken on that day.

And coming to the Patriotism, I never meant that only people from Defence backgrounds are patriotic, it was in the sense that you see people fighting for your country and that gives rise to a feeling of patriotism. Again this doesn't mean that all people from defence background are necessarily patriotic nor does it imply that non defence people cannot be patriotic.

No body else talked about the partiotism part, only Sodhi did. And what we both have is common is the background. Hence the statement. No need to feel offended ;)
