Here we go again

.
It has happened again, after Bangalore, Jaipur , Delhi and Assam, terrorists have struck at Mumbai..and that too in grand style...CST, Taj Mahal hotel and Oberoi, both posh hotels, infact 5 star hotels, ...but I am not angry at the terrorists, I am anguished by the media hype.

And before you start thinking that this guy is nuts and is unconcerned about the people inside, well thats definitely not what I am talking about..
The media people, interviewing everybody and anybody in sight in Mumbai...bt when a soldier is killed in Kashmir, its not even news now..because its just a common man dying in some remote part of the country, where death is now not a new phenomenon...the media ppl know that the "live" feeds from Mumbai will get them more TRP than the entire Army ever would be able to...

And aaj bhi when Indian forces went inside the hotel, it was the ATS,NSG and the Army that went in...went in to save the rich people( who are too important to die), people they never knew, people who wouldn't even recognize them if they meet these soldiers again.... and jab pay commission aata hai...to Army waalo ki salary badhane se hamari country suffer karti hai...( the basic pay for an officer joining the Army is Rs 8,500 pm, while according to the recent Pay commission, the pay for a normal MLA is nearly a couple of lakhs per month....and they say that military drains our country's budget...)

Well, I just wrote this post as I have always felt that soldiers and the Army have never been given the respect or money that they deserve....and media and Human rights Commision are the first people to question their motives when by mistake an innocent man is killed during an encounter with terrorists. And again when a soldier is killed, the media people don't even blink an eyelid now...leave alone coming forward to protect the dead soldier's human rights...

All we need to do is to send these media people to the border, let them see death up close there, maybe then they will realize the soldiers life, away from his family, standing guard at the dead of night at temperatures dipping below zero degrees and trying to protect his country against all threats- Domestic or foreign- from floods to riots to terrorists, they have fought off everything, sometimes at the cost of thier lives.

You can go to sleep in your comfortable bed in your centrally air-conditioned home, but do say a silent prayer for the unknown soldier who stands guard at the border the whole night so that nothing harms us..

I think my gtalk status does convey what I wanted to write in this post "Mumbai mein 5 star hotel mein ghuse..tab media waalon ko dikha...Jammu mein Army Camp mein ghuste hai tab media waale kaha mar jate hai???"

I completely agree with you..
the changing trends of media are just showing their greed for TRPs.

It was also appalling to see Defense chiefs intervene to protest against the revised pay commission.

i dont agree with you at all... frankly speaking mumbai does deserve more attention than what happens in jammu ... i can go about ranting about it but i know you are intelligent enough to know WHY ??

and then again who says that media doesnot pay the required attention to the police waalaahs and army officers ....

when durin the raid in delhi when a police man was killed the media coverage given to him was pretty good. He was hailed by the media and people both . So.. i dun know from vr you get your facts... You think hundreds of people dying in a the taj is a trivial issue... well this saddens me.
Taj hotel maybe considered one of the landmarks of modern India . Its a mammothic figure in the indian hospitailty industry . And for some foreign element ( I MIND YOU THESE ARE MORE THAN 5 ) to barge in and shoot indiscrinately at the creme de la creme of the indian society is a very grave issue...

One more thing ---- when you are constantly in the line of fire ( like in J&K and you are attacked by terrorists i agree it is a big deal ... but when you are dining in THE TAJ and then attacked by a terrorist it is by far a bigger deal and does attract media hype and attention ... I think its apt .

i want to rectify.... i dont mean that what happens in jammu is not imp ... its just that mumbai is more important

Its not just Kashmir re... aaj there were flash floods in Chennai, i am yet to see any media coverage given to it.Also just because Mumbai is economically more important for India, does that automatically imply that it needs more attention.

If you see the second para, I did mention that I am not unconcerned about the people inside, what I was concerned about was the fact that it takes an attack like this on a 5 star hotel for it becomes news for the media. And ya, it was the best hotel, the best clientle, but at the end of it they are also humans and human life is precious anywhere..but that is again my point...human life is precious evrywhere- be it Jammu or Mumbai.

This post was simply against the media's policy of looking for TRP's even in news. The failure of intellegence agencies which led to these terrorists to come in is also not new. Untill our agencies wake up, this can happen anywhere, not just the Taj( infact we have seen how after every such attack our intel agencies are simply clueless.).So again there was no point writing that.

And i do agree with your point that when you are dining in THE TAJ and then attacked by a terrorist it is a bigger deal, but is it not a big deal when you are killed at your home, or in your neighbourhood market ( I live in Hauz khas man...and M- block market is within walking distance man). All is wanted to say is that media should broadcast news like news, and not put in all spices to make it sound like the daily soaps that come on TV.

And ya, your opinion is yours man...and there is no way I would feel bad hearing it re..aise hi ek doosre ke views le ke hi to viewpoints change hote hai...
