Fauji Brat

Someone shared these awesome lines on Facebook...and they do sum up the lives of Defence kids..with families always on the move..

" My hometown is nowhere, my friends are everywhere. I grew up with the knowledge that home is where the... heart is and the family….Mobility is my way of life. Some would wonder about roots, yet they are as deep and strong as the mighty oak. I sink them quickly, absorbing all an area offers and hopefully, giving enrichment in return. Travel has taught me to be open. Shaking hands with the universe, I find brotherhood in all men.

Farewells are never easy. Yet, even in sorrow comes strength and ability to face tomorrow with anticipation… .If when we leave one place, I feel that half my world is left behind. I also know that the other half is waiting to be met.

Friendships are formed in hours and kept for decades. I will never grow up with someone, but I will mature with many.

Be it inevitable that paths part, there is constant hope that they will meet again. Love of country, respect and pride fill my being when Old Glory passes in review. When I stand to honor that flag, so also do I stand in honor of all soldiers, and most especially, to the parents whose life created mine Because of this, I have shared in the rich heritage of Indian Military life."

This post is for all the friends I have made in the 24 years of my life...friends whom I still cherish... :)

Samskruthi 2011

Today, we had Samskuthi...the annual carnival at CSC and the atmosphere was simply electric...It was like we were back in college.

Lots of stalls, lots of activities but the best part of the evening was the performance by the Hindi Rock band Musafir (http://www.musafirtheband.com/). They were amazing and belted out back to back power packed performances including a censored version of Sutta :)

And when they started playing Sutta, the crowd matched thier energy and sang along...poore college type wala mahaul :D

Now I do not know music..but as with most of the performances that I have seen, the energy is infectious and the efforts by the band members is what scores with me..

And listening to Musafir, I was suddenly missing Vishrut, Vishal, Angad, Govi, Abhay, Meet, Pandey, Phodu, Govil, Nimit, Purnoor, Puneet, Maddy, Rao, Popat, Sagar, KK and everyone who made those numerous DJ nights in college amazing fun...

Polo

No it isn't about the mint with the hole :P, it's about the sport.

Yesterday, we had gone to Race course for swimming and there we chanced upon a game of polo underway. The smart horses and the talented riders..it was gr8 watching the game.

Anyways the games got me remembering about our horse riding @ Bidar and hence this post goes out to all the friends, the horse riding and the football matches during and after the riding. :)

This post goes out to Angad, Manu, Anurag and Krish. Remembering you guys.

Masala Chicken

It has been a killer of a weekend and what a great start to it...Driving around Delhi at 2:00 AM :D

10:30pm
We ( read Rovin Jiju, Shiki Di, Aditi, Vinayak (aka Veenu) and me) start from our place at 10:30 after one round of Dinner for Paranthe Wali Gali ( @ Chandini Chowk) via Veenu's place at Safdarjung Enclave where his room mate and friend ( Aniket and Lakshmi) were waiting for us.

We started for Chandini Chowk in one car while Aniket and Lakshmi went to to pick Swati and then meet us outside Paranthe wali Gali..

11:10pm
We reach Paranthe wali gali where we are 10 minutes too late and the shops have all closed...Probably due to a heavy friday rush...

We debate where we should head next as a few more people arrive to be disappointed..

11:30pm
Its gonna be Masala Chicken @ Jama Masjid on a friday night and even at midnight, there was a crowd at the market at Jama Masjid

1:00am
After a heavy meal of Masala Chicken and Rumali Roti ( which was swimming in butter..and was pretty amazing) and extra dose of entertainment courtsey Veenu and Aniket, it was time for something sweet- Shahi Tukda, Firni and Halwa... we were so full that we were just able to taste these sweets...

Next stop : Chuski @ India Gate

1:30am
India Gate was in darkness and there were heardly any people at India Gate and just one odd ice cream vendor who had an empty cart :(

Since Rovin and Shiki Di had to drive to Chandigarh the next morning, we decided to call it a day

2:15am
Back home on a Saturday morning :D
